Our 4 day adventure through Bavaria Germany

We are back from our 4 day holiday and we had a great time. The weather was perfect! Mid 20’s celcious and lots of sunshine! Couldn’t have asked for better.
Tuesday was spent mainly driving to our destination. We were using our navigator until it decided to go on the fritz! We had to stop and pick up a map because I forgot to bring the one we had at home. Our hotel was very cute, name Hotel Schwangau Hof. We had a beautiful view from our balcony.

After we unpacked and relaxed a bit, we headed out for a 20 minute walk to the next town Fussen for dinner. There was a bike path the whole way.

We ate dinner that night at a little Italian restaurant and sat outside.

The next day was Castle day!
First castle we visted was Hofenschwangau the parent castle. We had a guided tour throughout the castle. We weren’t able to take photos inside, but sure did take alot outside! Both castles that we went to see were up on the mountains so we took a horse and carriage ride up to both.

After the Hofenschwangau castle we went to Neuschwanstein castle. Neuschwanstein is the most famous castle in Germany and is what the Cinderella castle is modeled on. Again we had a tour inside and no pictures were allowed.

After the tour we went for hike to St.Mary’s bridge where you could get a great view of the castle.
Here’s a photo of the bridge from inside the castle.

Half way to the bridge there was another viewing spot to see Hofenschwangau castle. This view was my favorite.

View from the bridge, which I nor Emma went on! Way to high for me…my hight paranoia is getting worse and worse. Rebekah went on the bridge but not for long. Ian and Meghan enjoyed it though and went all the way across.

After the castles and all that walking the kids were getting a little bored! So we went to a park which also had a summer tobaggon run which was a ton of fun. We all had a great time.

Next day we went to Munich.

At first we went to a couple of museums that were side by side featuring gothic and renaissance artifacts.

After the museums it was time for lunch. We headed to the Viktualienmarkt, which is a huge market full of a variety of items, to eat. It was packed but we were lucky enough to squeeze into a seat.

The rest of the day was spent walking around and just trying to take everything in.

We walked around Marienplatz, a shopping district and it was packed!

We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and Emma got her first set of drum sticks. ( she desperately wants a set of drums!) Across the street was the Hofbrauhaus which is the famous brewery in Munich. We didn’t have time to go in though since it was getting late and the girls were tired.
